Welcome to the Mayo National Roads Design Office Web Site! We are located at the Mall, Castlebar in Glenparke House, opposite the Courthouse. The office was established in 1999 and has responsibility for National Road Schemes Project Management on behalf of Mayo County Council and the National Roads Authority. The Senior Engineer in charge is Tony McNulty.

The office functions primarily as a design office for the implementation of major new road projects, from conception through compulsory purchase order stage to final road construction. For further information on project development, C.P.O. and land acquisition please click on Land Acquisition.

The office also fulfils a planning function through its input into decision making on Planning Applications for developments that have an impact on national routes. For further information please click on Planning Permission Function!

The National Roads Authority provides funding for the functioning of this office while Mayo County Council and the Dept. of the Environment and Local Government provide funding for the improvement and upkeep of our Regional and Local Roads. The Road Design Section of Mayo County Council located at Aras an Chontae handles this latter brief.

The purpose of this website is to inform you of the current status of the major road improvements projects in County Mayo. The site also provides additional information on the various stages of the projects and access to reports that are available such as Constraint Study Reports, Route Selection Reports, etc. For details of any project please go to the Projects page and select the project you are interested in.
